Currently, the production and distribution of honey is monopolized by imported honey, from intensive beekeeping that does not carry out sustainable methods of honey extraction.
These beekeeping methods damage the well-being and balance of the hives, giving priority to obtaining raw materials rather than the hives.
Sponsoring a hive has become a way for organic beekeepers to finance their projects and carry out their extraction methods, either through equalizing competitive prices or involving people in the protection of the species, the importance of the consumption of local honey and the work of beekeeping.
How hive sponsorship works:
- The sponsor contributes an annual fee to adopt a hive. They are directly financing the materials and resources necessary for the maintenance of a new hive.
- The beekeeper receives financial compensation to carry out his activity exceeding the competitive margins, maintaining his extraction method, protecting the hives.
- The sponsor shares the risks and benefits of that year’s harvest and receives part of the harvest as well.
- Thanks to this synergy, the bee population increases by giving priority to their well-being.
