Combats the effects of pollution and oxidative stress, preventing premature skin aging
In this blog we explain its properties, ingredients and how to identify if a cream really prevents premature aging.
What is the best anti-aging cream?
An anti-aging cream is not a magic formula that will make your skin look 10 years younger.
These are formulas designed to, above all,
moisturize and protect the skin , and on the other hand
, soften or reduce expression lines and improve its texture. These are the keys to preventing premature aging.
What is an anti-aging cream?
This question has almost 7 million results on Google , but we are making a mistake “Aging is inevitable, but premature aging is something we can prevent.”
This is the first thing we should know, there is no minimum age to start using “anti-aging” creams , age is something that simply happens and does not have to be negative, but if we do not protect and care for our skin, it can easily be damaged, accelerating its aging.
We need to look for creams that contain ingredients that provide us with antioxidants and promote the activity of the elements that protect and hydrate our skin , promoting its natural well-being and trying to slow down the inevitable passage of time as much as possible. It seems easy, right?
Let's see how the ingredient pipeline of our Revitalizing Cream works.
The best ingredients for an anti-wrinkle cream aka the antioxidant team
According to Wikipedia
, “ An antioxidant is a molecule capable of slowing or preventing the oxidation of other molecules . Oxidation is a chemical reaction involving the transfer of electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can produce radicals that start chain reactions that damage cells.”
So, an antioxidant will protect us from free radicals, those molecules that damage cells. Free radicals are present in our body, but also in our environment through pollution or sun damage.
It is these skin damages that cause the skin to be even more sensitive to these external factors and expression lines to appear before their time, which is why it is vital to use a cream with sun protection, but apart from this there are other ingredients that the best anti-aging creams should have:
Captain hydration: Hyaluronic Acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that our body produces naturally and is capable of retaining large amounts of water. 50% of these molecules are found in our skin.
In short, hyaluronic acid:
- It makes our skin look fuller and more even.
- Maintains hydration (1 HA molecule can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water)
- Improves tissue repair.
It can be described as a sponge that maintains the volume and moisture of our skin and body. We produce it naturally, but as we age we produce less and less.
A cream rich in Hyaluronic Acid will give us a boost of volume and hydration, preventing premature aging and giving us that soft Instagram filter effect.
Defenses: Ceramides.
Ceramides are lipids that our skin creates naturally. They are found in one of the outermost layers, specifically here, in the stratum corneum.
In short, ceramides:
- They provide density and protection to the skin
- They maintain the natural hydration of the same
These elements create a hydrolipidic film, that is, a water and fat barrier that protects our skin from external factors. Dry, sensitive or atopic skin often has problems when it comes to maintaining and producing ceramides naturally.
Healthy skin has a “compact cement” AKA “hydrolipidic film” that maintains the skin’s natural hydration and protects it. On the other hand, dry, damaged or atopic skin has a damaged ceramide barrier. If our skin does not produce the necessary ceramides, it is more vulnerable to damage from the sun and pollution.
Recent studies show that the use of mixtures of ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids (in a 3:1:1 ratio) topically accelerates the repair of the skin barrier in patients with atopic dermatitis.
If you want healthy, juicy skin, you know, you need to give it a shot of ceramides.
The coach, the master regulator of oxidation: CBD
CBD is a cannabinoid, a substance derived from Cannabis, with a host of therapeutic properties. Unlike the cannabinoid we know best, THC, scientific evidence shows that CBD has a safer therapeutic profile as it does not produce psychotropic effects and is no more addictive than a placebo.
But on our skin, CBD acts in the following way:
- Reduces pain and itching.
- It acts as a sebum regulator.
- Reduces inflammation.
- Prevents and softens imperfections.
- Together with hemp oil, it nourishes our skin, providing luminosity and restoring its well-being.
It penetrates our skin and connects with the Endocannabinoid System, aka the master regulator, responsible for balancing almost any physiological function you can imagine.
Recent studies suggest that the Endocannabinoid System influences functional modulation in the skin, and have implicated it in various biological processes.
At the moment we know that it has the capacity to regulate oxidative processes, acting on the elements responsible for producing collagen, cells, lipids, etc.
The players: soothing, hydrating and antioxidant ingredients.
Other good ingredients that play a fundamental role in preventing premature aging are those that provide relief and calm to sensitive skin and also contain antioxidant benefits:
- Jojoba: Rich in antioxidants, especially restorative for acne-prone skin thanks to its anti-seborrheic and anti-inflammatory activity.
- Honey: Rich in essential fatty acids to repair our skin, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cleansing, restorative... Discover all its benefits for the skin on our blog.
- Aloe Vera: Its high collagen and elastin content is the perfect ally to repair and prevent aging caused by sun damage.
- Hemp oil: Moisturizing and rich in fatty acids, what your skin needs to repair itself and be nourished.
- Shea Butter: promotes skin repair by providing hydration and activating collagen production.
- Calendula oil: Particularly moisturizing and soothing, suitable for all skin types.
- Thermal water: Helps cleanse the skin, relieving irritation. It reduces inflammation of pimples and wounds, decongesting pores and promoting healing.
At what age should you start using anti-aging cream?
Hyaluronic acid production begins to decrease at age 30, but this does not mean that it should not be used until then. Everything we do before then to preserve the health of our skin (and our body) will slow down the oxidation of cells and prevent premature aging.
Daily anti-wrinkle self-care routine
We propose this daily skin care routine with our line of natural products, produced in Spain, combining the benefits of honey and CBD to prevent premature aging and balance your skin:
8:00 - We start the day by moisturizing and lightly cleansing the face.
We remove excess water with a towel and use the Revitalizing Cream with CBD for an immediate good-looking effect, which will keep our skin hydrated and plump throughout the day.
It is perfect for moisturizing the face before makeup, it leaves a soft, mattifying effect and does not create flakes when we apply the foundation. If we want a juicier touch than a mattifying one, we will apply a few drops of 3% CBD Oil .
Then we apply the Lip Balm with CBD so that our lips stay protected and juicy.
We can give our body another boost of antioxidants with tea. Here are some ideas for teas rich in antioxidants: green tea, black tea, chai tea, turmeric infusion…
19:00 - The afternoon after work or studies when we relax at home watching a series, reading a book or listening to a podcast, we can do Skin Care afternoon and apply a honey mask with CBD: Hani+ .
This will give a boost of antioxidants, vitamins and nutrition to our skin. Here are some ideas for homemade mask recipes with honey and CBD to apply to different skin types.
22:00 - Before going to bed, we thoroughly cleanse our face and remove excess water.
We apply a few drops of 3% CBD Oil to our hand and rub it lightly on our palms to bring it to body temperature. Then we apply it to the skin by tapping it.
This 100% plant-based formula is rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and regulates the skin's oxidation cycles as well as balancing the production of fat and skin cells.
After the CBD Oil we apply some CBD Moisturizing Cream and CBD Body Lotion (the skin should be clean, if you shower in the morning apply the body lotion then). So while we rest we support the skin's hydration and renewal cycles, protecting it from premature aging.
